In an historic night, Troy was named Male Artist of the Year. His album The World Today claimed gold in the Top Selling Album of the Year category, while his track “South” with Ian Moss was named Vocal Collaboration of the Year. Troy has now claimed 40 Golden Guitar Awards, surpassing fellow country legends Slim Dusty and Lee Kernaghan, to claim the greatest number of Golden Guitars Awards ever won by an individual artist. He performed “Back On Country,” the lead-single from his award-winning album The World Today.

The World Today debuted at #3 on the ARIA Albums Chart and #1 on the Australian and Country Albums Chart. This is Troy’s fifth time winning the Best Country Album award, after first winning in 1995 with Beyond The Dancing.

Well, this has blown me away! Getting 8 nominations yesterday for the 2022 Golden guitar awards plus one with my mate Dean Perrett is humbling and amazing for me.
I wrote most of this record during one of the most trying times of my life as an adult and at times I found it hard to listen to because it reminded me of losing my Father ,where I was in my marriage, and the many things that covid brought out in all of us.

I’d like to thank Laurel for hanging in there with a man that lost his purpose for a while and his smile and for continuing to say “call Matt Fell, he can help you with the record, I know he can.”

Roxanne Brown for a steady hand at the wheel making it all work when all our lives went off track during covid.

The songwriters for giving me a reason to get up and get my sorry arse to the guitar and notepad.

Matt Fell for listening and guiding a friend through a record that I couldn’t have made by myself… I’ve known Matt since he was around 19 we have huge history and this album is special because of that history. Ted Howard who calmed the farm as an engineer and just a class human being and the many amazing musicians who built the world today.

A very different record forged out of very different and difficult times.

I’m still smiling this morning like I did yesterday after the announcements from Tamworth. Thanks to all who voted and to the CMAA – Country Music Association of Australia!

TROY CASSAR-DALEY HAS INKED A WORLDWIDE DEAL WITH SONY MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT AUSTRALIA

It’s a full-circle moment for the legend of Australian country music, who first signed to the major in 1995 to launch his record-breaking career.

He first released three studio albums with Sony before moving to Essense Records via EMI Music and eventually settled at the Mushroom-owned Liberation Records (now Bloodlines).

Cassar-Daley has released 10 studio albums throughout his 30 years of making music. His last album, Things I Carry Around, peaked at #5 on the ARIA Albums Chart in 2016.

Sony Music chairman and CEO Denis Handlin described the singer-songwriter as a “tremendous talent” who remains a “trailblazer” in the Australian music industry.

“We are thrilled to have Troy back with the company and the team is excited to work with him as he continues his esteemed musical journey,” Handlin said.

“I love Troy to bits and we cannot wait to help him take his new music to his far-reaching and ever-growing fan base.”

The Sydney-based major label also announced a number of new signings and partnerships earlier this month, including luring Busby Marou away from rival Warner Music.

Cassar-Daley, 51, will release a new studio album early next year and said he is proud to reunite with “dear mate Denis Handlin and the Sony team” for the next chapter of his career.

“The saying full circle gets used quite a bit in our lives but every now and then it rings true for us personally,” Cassar-Daley said. “Denis said ‘welcome back’ and that’s exactly how it feels!”

He has won 37 Golden Guitar awards, four ARIA Awards, three APRA Awards, nine Deadlys, four CMAA Awards, two NIMA Awards and clocked 32 #1 singles during his incredible career.

It was very unbelievable last night and a huge honour to win Most Performed Rock Song (yes rock song!) at the APRA AMCOS virtual awards with a song I wrote for my good mate Jimmy Barnes, called “Shutting Down Our Town.”

Jim’s first book really was a great read as they both were and the song pretty much fell off those pages I have to say.

I want to thank all involved – Kev Shirley produced it, Jimmy’s band played incredibly on it and Mushroom/Liberation’s Waz and Dean ran with it.

So a reason to smile today while we try to get back to normal with our lives… I can’t wait to play a gig or two for you all, believe me!!

While travelling this country for the last 12 months on tour, I drove many miles on many roads, flew over some incredible parts of this land and I started doing a series of paintings from what I saw. These pictures represented the colours, moods and extremes we all face on a day to day basis living here in Australia.

When the fires over the last three months saw people left homeless and broken I wanted to try and raise awareness and much needed funds to help in some way. So I gathered all the works of art, created them into a digital form to print to make a calendar .

I want to thank our friends at ARIAT (Just Country) and Heart Futures for partnering with me on this project so we can make sure 100% of the proceeds will be going to the fire appeal to people that need it most.

I turned 50 this year and taking these songs to all the towns and performing them as they were written has been very powerful.
